All eyes will be on Glasgow this autumn when COP26 takes place at the SEC.
Around 30,000 people – representing over 200 countries, businesses, NGOs, faith groups and more – will descend on the city where they’ll be warmly welcomed and expertly assisted by the 1,000 COP26 volunteers.
And because we’re designing every single sustainable and stylish volunteer uniform for the event – all eyes will be on our work, too.
We couldn’t be more up for the challenge – everything COP26 stands for is part of our DNA, too.
And it seems our reputation proceeds us, as we’ve discovered that upwards of 10,000 people have applied to be volunteers at the event.
(Okay, so it might not all be down to the promise of a Lion uniform – but we’re going all out to ensure the volunteers love their kit as much as they do taking part in this milestone event.)
According to the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, 70% of the applications have come from people in Glasgow and its surrounding areas – while Scotland as a whole has contributed to 80% of the applications.
Other aspiring volunteers come from further afield – including from Australia and India.
While young people under the age of 25 make up the biggest share of the applications, the campaign has also seen people up to the age of 84 throw their hats into the ring.
Glasgow City Council’s COP26 Volunteer Manager, Claire Shield, said ‘Volunteering at COP26 will be a valuable and memorable experience for many and our volunteers can wear their uniforms with pride as they welcome delegates, and represent the city and contribute to collective, global action on the future of our planet.’
She added, ‘The sustainable uniform created by LION Safety will unite our team of COP26 volunteers during the Conference and they’ll be able to wear these garments for years to come.’
